Artifact Description

Clay Cup

The pottery from the site of Jarmo, Iraq, was made by hand. More than half of the sherds recovered have outside surfaces decorated with a reddish paint or slip, comprised of wet clay. This is a rather crude example of a cup that has been restored from a number of small fragments.
