Paper Paris OIP38Front Oriental Institute MuseumFloor Plan of Sargon II's Palace at KhorsabadThis is a floor plan of King Sargon II's palace at Khorsabad. It shows the foundations of the palace buildings as they would have been during the time of Sargon's reign (721-705 BC). The blackened portions of the plan indicate areas excavated by the Iraq Expedition of the Oriental Institute. The plan itself was included as the frontispiece to the final report of the excavation, published in 1936. It is based, in part, on an earlier plan produced by the French archaeologist, Victor Place.
