Faience Rosette
Faience is a man-made material consisting of powdered quartz that has been heated just enough that the surface is glazed. Usually found in temples or shrines, rosettes such as this one have small holes or pierced knobs at the back, suggesting that they were ornaments sewn onto robes made for statues of gods.
